The current generation Dodge Nitro is a mid-sized sport utility vehicle offered in three trim versions. It is designed and produced based on the Jeep Liberty model, but with enhanced overall length. It has the seating capacity to accommodate up to 5-passengers. When compared with the Dodge’s Durango, it is smaller in size. Newly revised features to the model include Dodge Nitro roof rails, suspension system and braking system.

Trims & Engines

The 2009 Dodge Nitro comes mostly unchanged except is revised braking and suspension system. It is offered in three trim versions, the base model SE, SLT and R/T. Power to the base model SE and SLT versions come from 3.7 liter C6 engine that delivers 210 hp at 5400 rpm and torque of 235 lb ft at 4000 rpm, while the other engine comes equipped with 4.0 liter V6 version that delivers 260 hp of power and 265 lb ft of torque.

The standard engine is mated to 4-speed automatic, while the other engine is paired to 5-speed automatic transmission. With the powerful V6 engine, the mid-sized sport utility vehicle can achieve fuel economy of 15 mpg in the city premises and 20 mpg on the highway roads.
